Founded in 1910 Half Moon Bay Surf Life Saving club is the oldest in the state. Half Moon Bay receives its name from its crescent shape. The 350 m long bay faces north in the southern corner, then swings around to face west along the northern section. Due to the partially protected nature of the bay Half Moon Bay is one of the most popular recreation areas on Port Phillip Bay.
Half Moon Bay is currently one of the strongest surf sports clubs in Victoria.
We believe that physical health and fitness is of vital importance for all our patrolling members not only whilst on patrol but to enable our members to perform rescues in any environment. In order to achieve this, Half Moon Bay SLSC is very active in surf sports.
Club members train daily, some at an elite national level. Our volunteers train hard and race other surf sports competitors around the country culminating in the Australian Surf Life Saving Titles. By putting a heavy focus on the exciting surf sports area our members are prepared for anything, and serve the community more effectively.
Surf Sports is also one of the main attractions to our movement, we encourage anyone interested to come along to the Life Saving Club and chat to us about joining or even just trying out the club.
